On October 21, Prodesse, Inc. was acquired by Gen-Probe (NASDAQ: GPRO), a world leader in molecular diagnostics.
The new combined entity will continue to offer products under the Prodesse product line brand.

Prodesse's product menu has grown to include assays for several of today's most critical infectious diseases, including influenza, pneumonia, and hospital-acquired diarrhea caused by Clostridium difficile. These and the company's other products deliver outstanding performance and sensitivity, in as little as three to four hours. Prodesse's assays use common molecular testing instrumentation, making them easy to integrate and use in the clinical laboratory.
Prodesse has an active product development program and pipeline. This pipeline includes assays that will complement existing products and expand the company's menu to include new infectious agents.
Prodesse sells its products as FDA-cleared in vitro diagnostic (IVD) and research-use-only (RUO) kits worldwide. It markets CE-marked in vitro diagnostic kits outside the United States. The company employs a direct sales force in the United States and a strong network of 52 distributors across the globe.
